Sichuan LED Street Light Receives EU "Access Permit"

Yesterday, the LED street light series products of Sichuan Xinli Light Source Co., Ltd. obtained the CE-RoHS2.0 conformity certificate issued by the authoritative certification body SGS. It is understood that this is also the first domestic company to obtain this certification since the European Union promulgated new regulations on July 1 this year.

The relevant person in charge of Xinli Light Source told Chengdu Daily News that this is equivalent to being the first to obtain the "access permit" for LED lighting products in the EU market, which will bring the company millions of euros and even tens of millions of euros in revenue each year.


It is understood that RoHS 2.0 is the European Union's "Restriction on the Use of Certain Specific Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment", which was formally announced on July 1, 2011. It was formally effective on July 21, 2011 and will be January 3, 2013 officially implemented. By that time, all products exported to the EU member states must meet the requirements of RoHS 2.0.

According to Li Xinzhu, deputy director of the electronic product department of SGS Technology, compared with the previous RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC, the scope of RoHS 2.0 control has been expanded to limit the six hazardous substances in the original RoHS Directive in respect of restricted substances. In the next three years, priority will be given to the assessment of four substances.
